The Coordination Meeting
for Directors of Turkish Language Teaching Centers was organized by the Yunus
Emre Institute in Ankara on 9 March 2024. The meeting began with an address by
Prof. Dr. Şeref ATEŞ, President of the Yunus Emre Institute. Announcing a
project support program for Turkish Language Teaching Centers at universities,
ATEŞ emphasized the responsibilities of educators in teaching Turkish and
highlighted the importance of the Turkish language.
Following ATEŞ’s remarks,
Dr. Serdar ÇAM, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of
Türkiye, delivered a speech in which he emphasized the importance of Turkish
and addressed its connection with various aspects of life.
Directors of Turkish
Language Teaching Centers from different provinces across Türkiye gathered in
Ankara and exchanged views on a range of topics throughout the meeting. The
first session focused on “The Current State of Teaching Turkish as a Foreign
Language,” while the second session addressed “Objectives, Plans,
Strategies, and Approaches in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language.” In
the final session, discussions were held under the title “Strategies for
Coordination Between the Yunus Emre Institute and Academia in Teaching Turkish
as a Foreign Language.” The meeting concluded following the discussion
session.

SÖNMEZ, Director of the Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research
Center, attended the meeting in Ankara on behalf of our University.
