Individuals who wish to take the FBÜTÖMER Turkish Proficiency Examination may complete their registration procedures by applying to the TÖMER Office located at Fenerbahçe University, Block B, Floor 0, Room A-17. Online applications for the examination may also be submitted through the official Fenerbahçe University TÖMER platform.

The examination is administered free of charge on one occasion only for international students enrolling in Turkish-medium programs at our University who are unable to provide a valid Turkish language certificate at the time of initial registration.

Individuals wishing to take the examination must complete the application form available on the Center’s website. Following submission of the form, the Center will contact applicants shortly to provide information regarding required documents, payment procedures, and the remaining registration steps.

Yes. You may easily apply for Turkish courses by completing the “Course Participant Application Form” available on our website. After submitting the form, the Center will contact you shortly regarding required documents, payment information, and the remaining registration procedures.

Classes are scheduled either four or five days per week.

• Classes held four days per week: 09.00-14.00
• Classes held five days per week: 09.00-13.00

If more than one section is opened for a particular level, classes may also be scheduled between 13:00 and 17:00.

Except for Turkish for Proficiency Examination 1 and Turkish for Proficiency Examination 2 levels, the total weekly course load at our Center is 20 hours.

Each level lasts 8 weeks (160 instructional hours).

Students/course participants who begin language education at the A1 level and successfully complete all levels may complete the program at the B2 level in approximately 8 months.

Classes are conducted face-to-face in the TÖMER classrooms located on the mezzanine floor (Floor 0) of Block B at our University.

In our classes, the “Yeni İstanbul Turkish for International Students” coursebooks and workbooks appropriate to each level are used.

In addition to the officially designated textbook sets, printed materials prepared by the Curriculum and Materials Development Commission and digital materials prepared for online use are utilized in classes.

Our courses are organized for all language levels from A1 to B2. Separate classes are opened for each level so that students/course participants receive instruction in the group most appropriate to their current Turkish proficiency. For students who successfully complete the B2 level but do not achieve the score required to complete their education in the proficiency examination they are eligible to take, and who must wait one or two additional modules before retaking the examination, Turkish for Proficiency Examination 1 and Turkish for Proficiency Examination 2 levels are offered.

Before starting the course, students take the Turkish Proficiency Examination administered by our Center. Students begin instruction at the appropriate level according to their examination results.

• If the student/course participant holds a placement certificate obtained from the TÖMER/DİLMER/SEM units of other universities operating within the borders of Türkiye, the certificate shall be reviewed and, if approved, the student may begin instruction at the corresponding level.
• If the student/course participant has no knowledge of Turkish, they may begin their education at the A1 level.

For course participants, the Turkish course fee is USD 325 per level. Procedures regarding the fees of students enrolled in any Turkish-medium department or program at our University are conducted by the Office of International Relations.

No. Course fees cannot be paid in installments; payments are collected in advance through the bank system (UNISIS).

For course participants who visit our office to register for Turkish courses, a UNISIS account through which payment can be made is created. Participants may complete their payments by logging into the system.

No. Course fees are non-refundable.

Discounts are not available.

No. Course participants are required to make payments in United States Dollars (USD).

Yes. Students/course participants who successfully complete the B1 level with a minimum score of 80 and the B2 level with a minimum score of 70 become eligible to take the Turkish Proficiency Examination. Those who receive a score of 70 or above on this examination are entitled to receive a certificate.

The certificate examination consists of four skills evaluated over two stages:

• First stage: Written examination (reading, writing, listening)
• Second stage: Oral examination (speaking skills)

Each skill is evaluated out of 25 points. Sample examination questions are available on the Center’s website.

• At least two quizzes are administered at each level (15% weighting).
• One midterm examination is administered at each level (30% weighting).
• “Out-of-Class Activities” are assessed (10% weighting).
• “Attendance” is monitored (5% weighting).
• One final examination is administered at each level (40% weighting).

Students/course participants successfully complete the level they are attending by achieving a passing score of 70/100.

Eligible individuals include:

• International students enrolled in Turkish-medium programs at our University
• Course participants/students who complete the B1 level with a minimum score of 80 and the B2 level with a minimum score of 70
• Individuals studying or not studying at our University who wish to take the examination by paying the examination fee of USD 100

Examination results are announced on the Center’s official website (Fenerbahçe University TÖMER).

At FBÜTÖMER, attendance at classes is mandatory at a minimum rate of 80%. Total absenteeism, including days covered by medical reports or official leave, may not exceed 30%. If a student/course participant’s absenteeism rate exceeds 20% (30% including documented leave), they lose the right to take any examinations administered within the module (quiz/quizzes, midterm examination, or final examination). Students who exceed the 20% attendance limit do not receive points under the attendance criterion.

No. Refunds are not issued after the course has started.

It is not possible for course participants to freeze/suspend the course they are attending. Requests by students regarding suspension of enrollment are evaluated by the relevant School/Faculty/Institute.

If a student/course participant fails the level they are attending, they may continue their language education by repeating the failed level in the following module.

No. Course registrations are non-transferable.
