Fenerbahçe University Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (FBÜTÖMER) is an educational center that provides Turkish language instruction to learners who wish to learn Turkish as a foreign language, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Within this framework, FBÜTÖMER aims to provide international learners who wish to continue their education in Türkiye with the language skills defined by the CEFR, enabling them to communicate their thoughts and feelings in Turkish and manage their daily lives effectively. Through the Turkish language education program, learners also gain insight into Turkish society, culture, and intellectual heritage.
As emphasized in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, learners who wish to study Turkish as a foreign language first take a placement examination. Following an assessment of the learner’s reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills, students are placed into A1, A2, or B1 levels according to their proficiency level and begin their language education accordingly. Learners study within a system based on the four fundamental language skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Classes are conducted in technologically equipped classrooms located at the Ataşehir Campus of Fenerbahçe University, where learners study Turkish using digital tools and level-appropriate course materials.
FBÜTÖMER is a center that teaches Turkish to international learners for use in personal, public, professional, and academic contexts. In addition to language instruction, the Center aims to provide learners with cultural knowledge about Türkiye. To achieve this goal, FBÜTÖMER organizes various activities introducing learners to Türkiye and Turkish culture. Adopting a student-centered educational approach and modern language teaching techniques, FBÜTÖMER aims to teach Turkish to international learners and awards Turkish Proficiency Certificates to students according to their proficiency levels.
