The Advisory Board Meeting of the Fenerbahçe University Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (FBÜTÖMER) was held online via Microsoft Teams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Egemen Ozan Sönmez, Director of FBÜTÖMER. During the meeting, general information was provided about the Center’s educational activities, institutional operations, and development processes. FBÜTÖMER’s structure, which supports international students’ adaptation to academic life and delivers Turkish language education through a systematic and quality-oriented approach, was also introduced.
The curriculum and materials development processes implemented within the Center were discussed during the meeting. Evaluations were made regarding the Center’s educational approach, which is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and aims to develop the four fundamental language skills in a balanced manner. The Board members’ views and recommendations concerning the curriculum and materials development processes were received, and areas for further improvement were considered.
Assessment and evaluation processes were also reviewed during the meeting. Information was shared on subjects including examination practices, the skills-based assessment approach, validity, reliability, and the standardisation of scoring. During the exchange of views with the Board members, recommendations aimed at strengthening current practices and ensuring the sustainable development of the Center’s quality assurance approach were evaluated.
The importance of internal and external stakeholder participation in the institutional development of FBÜTÖMER was particularly emphasised. It was stated that feedback received from stakeholders makes a valuable contribution to improving the quality of education, enhancing institutional processes, and implementing strategic objectives more effectively.
The meeting concluded with thanks being extended to the Advisory Board members for their contributions and recommendations, together with expressions of hope for the continuation of stakeholder cooperation.
