The online event titled “Communication
Skills in Teaching Turkish to Foreigners,” organized by Fenerbahçe
University Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center
(FBÜTÖMER), was held via Microsoft Teams on Monday, 10 November 2025, with the
participation of 121 attendees.
The event was moderated
by Lecturer Ceyda Yaman, while the opening address was delivered by Lecturer
Egemen Ozan Sönmez, Director of FBÜTÖMER. Sönmez thanked the guest speaker,
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, for his participation and invited him to deliver his presentation.
Before the event began,
the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was commemorated with respect on the
occasion of 10 November Atatürk Memorial Day.
In his presentation,
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, a faculty member at Gazi University, emphasized the
importance of establishing a common language, using body language effectively,
and demonstrating courage and self-confidence as an educator in teaching Turkish
to foreigners. Stating that “Language is not merely a field of knowledge but
also a means of communication,” Kurt highlighted the necessity of ensuring
students’ emotional engagement in the teaching process to achieve lasting
learning.
The event, which
attracted considerable interest from the participants, concluded with Lecturer
Egemen Ozan Sönmez, Director of FBÜTÖMER, presenting Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt
with a certificate of appreciation.
It was also announced
that all participants would receive a digital certificate of participation.
