Lecturer Egemen Ozan
SÖNMEZ, Director of the Center, attended the “Promotional and Informational
Meeting on Course Materials for Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language,”
organized by the Turkish Maarif Foundation on 31 July 2025, representing
Fenerbahçe University Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center
(FBÜTÖMER).
The meeting, held at the
headquarters of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, began with an opening address by
Mahmut Mustafa ÖZDİL, President of the Foundation. The opening session
addressed the topic “The Role of the Turkish Maarif Foundation in the
Internationalization of Turkish.”
During the first session,
the “Maarif Turkish Language Book Sets” were introduced through a presentation
by Prof. Dr. İbrahim GÜLTEKİN. Detailed information was provided on the content
of the coursebook, workbook, teacher’s guidebook, grammar and pronunciation
book, pronunciation and diction book, and supplementary reading books.
Information regarding assessment processes was also shared.
During the second
session, the coursebook prepared as part of the “Turkish Culture and
Civilization Program” was introduced. The structure of the curriculum, the
content of the book, and assessment methods were presented to the participants.
The session was followed by a question-and-answer section.
The Turkish Maarif
Encyclopedia of the Turkish Maarif Foundation was also introduced during the
meeting.
Commenting on the
meeting, Lecturer Egemen Ozan SÖNMEZ, Director of FBÜTÖMER, stated: “We believe
that the new Turkish language teaching materials prepared for the field will
make significant contributions to teaching processes. Enriching such
comprehensive content, particularly with cultural components, will enhance the
quality of teaching Turkish as a foreign language.”
