Fenerbahçe University
Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (FBÜTÖMER) held
mutual evaluation meetings with B1- and B2-level students on 3 and 4 June 2025.
The meetings were held on the University campus and moderated by Lecturer Egemen
Ozan SÖNMEZ, Director of the Center.
The meetings aimed to
encourage students to participate more actively in academic processes, share
their expectations regarding the development of their Turkish language
proficiency, and provide information ahead of the end-of-term examinations. The
functioning of FBÜTÖMER, assessment and evaluation methods, technical
information concerning the Turkish Proficiency Exam, and proposed solutions to
the difficulties encountered by students were also discussed.
In his remarks during the
meetings, Lecturer Egemen Ozan SÖNMEZ emphasized that FBÜTÖMER is not only a
language teaching center but also an institution that supports students’
cultural integration and guides them throughout their academic lives. Expressing
his satisfaction with the progress demonstrated by the students, SÖNMEZ stated
that he believed they would be able to use Turkish at an advanced level through
disciplined and determined study.
The meetings concluded
with interactive sessions in which students asked questions and shared their
suggestions. The participants stated that the information provided had
increased their motivation and noted that holding such meetings regularly would
be beneficial.
With its student-centered
approach, FBÜTÖMER will continue to enhance the quality of Turkish language
teaching and provide international students with support in every area.
